"Don't be scared," Susie said, although she was taking great enjoyment from frightening this wolf. "Why should it be any surprise to meet a savage rabbit? We've breed vigorously with hopes that someone else will be eaten and not ourselves. Wouldn't you be angry if that was your only purpose in life?"
Susie shook her ears in irritated over her species. If they used their gift of breeding and teeth, it was possible for them to get somewhere if they grew some backbone ...
"I've decided to take a different route in life," Susie said. This was actually not decided for her. Her past life in a cage, spending monotonous days alone, made her aloof to the point where she did not have the ability to understand most creatures. The only reason why could relate to wolves was because dogs used to stand by her cage and wished to eat her.
