Post Bulletin Board Rules
The mission is to protect the largest animal welfare fund in
BC through accountability, so the purpose here is to inspire debate and fresh
ideas, which is often more easily accomplished in conversation than contemplation.
If describing individual complaints about and/or unresolved issues with the
BCSPCA, please explain how independent accountability measures could answer
your problem. Expressing opinions is the idea but remember the goal is to
generate solutions not to vent for sport or payback. No personal attacks.
Please refer to the BCSPCA and submitters with the same respect your opinions
deserve.
CYA reserves the right to pull a post for non-compliance
to the rules regardless of whom scratched it.
Considering the real-time nature of this bulletin
board, it is impossible for us (CYA) to review messages or confirm
the validity of information posted. Please remember that we do not actively
monitor the contents of posted messages and are not responsible for any messages
posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness
of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The
messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the
views of this message board or any entity associated with this message board.
Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to
contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove or edit objectionable
messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time
frame, if we determine that removal/editing is necessary. This is a manual
process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit
particular messages immediately.
You agree, through your use of this service, that you
will not use this bulletin board to post any material which is knowingly false
and/or defamatory, inaccurate, vulgar, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually
oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative
of any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright
is owned by you.
You remain solely responsible for the content
of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless CYA and its
agents with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s).
We also reserve the right to reveal whatever
information we have about a poster in the event of a complaint or legal action
arising from any message posted.
CYA would like
to advise posters that one of the standard provisions of a message board service
is access for the purpose of editing or deleting. This access includes information
on the posters' IP numbers, a unique number that identifies a source. This means
that, while we are unable to identify the person without making a formal, legal
request to the appropriate agency, we do see a 'tag' for a source computer.
The sole benefit of this information to us is the recognition that several aliases
belong to one source. While we have no intention of initiating proceedings to
find out who the source is, we do have an interest in maintaining the integrity
of this board. Thus, when we observe, for example, demeaning, uninformative
posts that come from the same IP under different aliases or that someone has
posted a message and then a contradictory statement is posted from the same
IP, we consider such action disingenuous to the point of jeopardizing the integrity
of the board and performing a diservice to those who read and post in good faith.
If a pattern of such activity from one IP is established over a period of time, that IP will be banned from posting
Important Note: CYA
wants to make it clear that no one is tracing you or any other posters. Your
computer information is not visible to anyone on the site. Only the Site Administrator
could trace a post and would only do so if there were criminal issues; other
potential legal issues are addressed by editing or pulling a post. The procedure
of tracing a post involves contacting the ISP to whom the IP address is registered
to and submitting a formal request for such information. It is CYA policy
to protect, not to detect, anonymity. If you absolutely do not want to
be identified on the public message board, please make sure NOT to
put anything within the email address section of the POST MESSAGE area
when you are formatting your post to the message board.
Reserve Price Auction
The reserve price is the lowest price a seller is willing to
sell an item for. This amount is generally higher
than the minimum bid .In order to win the auction, a bidder must meet or exceed
the reserve price and have
the highest bid. If a bidder's maximum bid meets or exceeds the reserve, the
bid will be automatically raised
to meet the reserve. If no bidders meet the reserve price, neither the seller
nor the high bidder are under
any further obligation to complete the transaction.
